I Love Protein Powder! part 2

So I recently purchased these 2 4-lb jugs of +Inner Armour protein powder from +Bodybuilding.com. I got them at a great price. I am satisfied with my order. On the left is the Strawberry Super Quad Protein blend which contains 24 grams of protein and on the right is the Milk Chocolate 100% Isolate Zero blend which also contains 24 grams of protein. I take the isolate after my workout and I take the Super Quad blend right before I go to sleep. I love both flavors. I chose +Inner Armour because they are low in fat and carbs. My only issue with these products is the mixability. These get a bit clumpy at the bottom of my shaker bottle. So I have to scoop out the clumps with a spoon so I don't waste anything when I wash it out. I did not have a mixability issue with +Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein or +Monster Milk. Due to this issue, I do not plan on repurchasing from this brand. Mixability is important in my book and the last thing I want to do is mix my shaker bottle like a crazy person especially if I had just had a tough workout.

Smells like the Holidays

Quick post on a the Glade's Limited Edition Winter Collection. I have been using their room sprays the last couple of weeks and it gives my home such a warm holiday touch. These are perfect for this time of year. Outof  their Winter collection, my favorites scents are the Apple Cinnamon Cheer and the Sweet Holiday Treat. There are more scents in this collection and I believe +Walmart has their exclusive Merry Maple Morning line. There are plug-ins, automatic sprays and candles as well in the same scents. Good job +SC Johnson / Glade.

Tea Party: Holiday Style

If you are a tea drink then I suggest you try out +Teavana White Cholate Peppermint Tea. This stuff is sooo good! I bought 8oz of it. It's a great holiday-inspired rooibos tea. It's rich and creamy with the white chocolate pieces mixing in with the crushed candy cane pieces. Rooibos tea does not have any caffeine so its perfect during anytime of the day. Below is a photo of what it looks like in my tea tin. When you steep it you get a beautiful golden brown hue tea. Here is a list of the rest of the ingredients according to the +Teavana website.
  Ingredients:White chocolate pieces (sugar, cocoa butter, milk powder, dextrose), cocoa kernels, carob pieces, red rooibos, natural and artificial flavor, vanilla pieces, liquorice root. CONTAINS MILK

Winter = Peppermint Goodness

 

'Tis the Season for peppermint! Stores are making the transition from pumpkin goodness (which I discussed in one of my October posts) to peppermint goodness. Every brand now has something holiday-inspired particularly when it comes to peppermint oil. One example is Trident Layers Limited Edition Candy Cane flavor gum. This stuff is so good. Sometimes, I chew two pieces of it because the flavor is so delicious. Really gets you in the holiday spirit. One pack comes with 14 pieces and it usually comes in a 3pack deal. About $2-3 dollars. Must try.

Peppermint-theme products continues with Softsoap Limited Edition Wintermint Snowfall Body Wash. This stuff is perfect for the holidays. If you really enjoy the smell or peppermint or toothpaste, let's be honest, then this stuff is for you. I love minty scents so this is right up my alley. It gives you an invigorating feeling when you step out of the shower.

To layer your peppermint-self you can add these $1 Spa Perfect Hand & Body Lotion / Feet Cream from +Target. This stuff also uses peppermint extract so you can layer your Softsoap body wash with this stuff. Unlike the Softsoap body wash the Spa Perfect line has a hint of vanilla in it so it's not as strong when it comes to the peppermint. These should be found in the dollar section as soon you walk into any +Target store.

Braun CoolTec Shaver System

I have never had an enjoyable shaving experience until I got this product via a program run by Braun. My shaving ritual usually includes a trim of facial hair before using a foil shaver because if the hair remains long, it yanks at my skin which hurts. I didn't have to do that with the Braun CoolTec. I immediately used the electric shaver on my skin (no wet-face or shaving cream necessary) and it cut through my facial hair like butter. I have never, ever shaven my face this quick! It was a close comfortable shave in a matter of minutes. No post-irritation later in the day either.

The CoolTec feature is a definitely a plus! Its almost a relaxing experience to have the cool metal brush against your cheeks. Have a trimmer attachment is another plus because it helps to clean up the sideburns.

Charging was a breeze. I like how there's two way to charge your Cooltec: 1) through the charging shell or 2) through the Clean&Charge station. Both of which use the same electric outlet connector. I have not noticed any rusting anywhere on the product which is great. The solution that comes with this electric shaver protects and cleans it; giving the blades a longer shelf-life I guess.

In terms of design, it looks really nice- high quality. It has some weight to it but its not heavy. You can still easily maneuver around your face and neck.

I am in love with my new Braun CoolTec. I plan on using this for as long as I can. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is need of an electric shaver who wants to have a clean-shaven look in a matter of minutes. A great choice for a gift too.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash

This is my third bottle of Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash. Above is the classic formula but I've tried their Redness Soothing formula (green liquid) and their Grapefruit formula (pink liquid). All of which have done their job to reduce the oily-ickiness I feel when I wake-up in the morning. It makes my skin feel fresh and clean. There 2% salicylic acid in the formulation which helps to remove the oil from the skin. I use this once or twice daily. If you are prone to acne or like to reduce the amount of oil residue on your face then I think this is great option. I am sticking to Neutrogena when it comes to oil-control/acne.

Fage Total 0% is Totally 100% Awesome

New bzz that I want to share with the world and that is the Fage Total Split Cup BzzCampaign. I was selected to try out this amazing  product and I am so thankful because I love yogurt. I just never got around trying this brand but now that I have, I can honestly say that it's really good. I must remind everyone that I was not paid to promote this product. Using those coupons, I was able to attain the things that are in the photo below!

Two Cherry Pomegranates, one Blueberry Acai, one Mango Guanabana and a Strawberry Goji. So far I've tried the Cherry Pomegranate and it was delicious!!!! It was creamy, smooth and filling. Cannot wait to try out the other flavors. Fage has a lot more flavors listed on their website, http://usa.fage.eu/.

I wanted to include a quick snack idea using this yogurt. After hitting the gym or after a good 10K run, I like to refuel. Yogurt is usually my go-to snack because it has protein to feed my muscles. This brand is really good because theres 0% fat in this but it's loaded with 13grams of protein! Now just combine the yogurt with a few fruits (berries, banana etc) and you have yourself a tasty post-workout recovery snack. I highly suggest you go out and grab a split cup of Fage yogurt. 

Skinny Cow - Heavenly Crisp

Since I've been on a health kick lately, I had to find alternative sweets that are low in calorie. Above is what is left my Heavenly Crisp bar...just the wrapper. This is by +Skinny Cow. These are sooo bomb. They taste like Peanut Butter Cups but its much lower in calories. Very light but filling. It's a great alternative to other peanut butter chocolate bars.

I Love Protein Powder!

Sooo I've been trying to get into shape and get a little bit lean & mean. I decided to increased my protein intake to help with muscle-building. Above is a photo of +Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein which I purchased from +Bodybuilding.com. I got an awesome deal on a 5lb tub along with a free Fish Oil SoftGels. After doing my research on various brands that make whey protein I decided this was the best product for me. So far this has been a great addition to my workout plan. One scoop of this powder contains 25 grams of protein and less than a gram of saturated fat. Usually when I make my protein shake I will take two scoops for 16 ounces of water or milk. Now you must be curious about how it tastes? It tastes amazing. I got the Cake Batter flavor. It just like traditional yellow cake but its not super sweet like other protein shakes that I've tried. What about mixing ability? This formula mixes so easily you can do it with a spoon but I like to use my shaker bottle.

Btw, I wasn't aware of this but it makes sense now- protein powder is not just for people who workout and want to increase the protein intake. It's a great source of protein for diabetics or people on strict diets who cannot eat traditional protein sources like meat.

Overall, I am very pleased with this product. I am currently down to about maybe half a pound of powder left and will most likely purchasing again from +Bodybuilding.com and trying another flavor from the same brand. If you are in the market for protein powder then I would suggest to look into  +Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein.

Autumn = Pumpkin Goodness

If you are enjoying the pumpkin-flavored goodies lately but feeling guilty about the high calorie intake try this. It's Bolthouse Farms Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Latte. This stuff tastes sooo good! What I really enjoy about this is it only has 1 gram of saturated fat in a 8oz cup. It's gluten free and has about 7 grams of protein! Really good to start your day. It's for a limited time and it comes in 32 and 52 oz bottles.

Dr. Scholl's® For Him Active Series®

           For me, running is just amazing. I love the endorphin rush you get after running for miles like a mad-man. Plus the benefits of an active hobby resonates throughout your life and your well-being. In high-school, I had so much trouble accomplishing a 1-mile jog during PE class. I am now in my twenties. After months of conditioning by body, I am now able to run 5 miles without any hesitation.
       
           In order to continue my progress on the road to fitness, I received a special tool complimentary from +Influenster. I am a proud owner of #DrScholls For Him Active Series insoles that came in the @InfluensterVox Box. This is my secret weapon to getting through my daily run.

#ActiveSeries

         I have been using these insoles and so far these guys have been wonderful for my feet. Dr. Scholls did an excellent job. It's designed with Triple Zone Protection for the ball of the foot, arch and heel. When I placed them into my running shoes, I definitely noticed a comfortable feeling around the ball of my foot- very spacious than usual but supportive. 

          Three miles into a good run, I have a tendency to get a little aggressive with my strides when I hit the ground because it helps me to push through the workout. While wearing these, I noticed that my feet did not have that usual "they're going to explode from the shock" sensation. They were pleasantly hitting the pavement/treadmill belt. According to the Dr. Scholls website these reduce shock by 40%.

         

           In addition, I have had a history of shin splints and these #ActiveSeries insoles have been nothing but kind to them. They help to relieve and prevent pain from shin splints, runner's knee and plantar fasciitis.

           Another component of this product that I wasn't aware of is it contains a SweatMax Technology tha helps to reduce foot odor. In terms of this feature, I have not tested it because I'm not interested to smell my sneakers after a long run but it's nice to know that they incorporated that into the design. What I usually do immediately after a run, which I believe is a good tip is to place a fabric softener sheet into the sneakers to mask any odor diffusion.

           Another good tip after a run is to hydrate! You should always keep your body hydrated with plenty of fluids. I usually have a banana and a 8 ounce cup of water.

         Overall, these #ActiveSeries insoles by #DrScholls have been a great addition to my daily runs. Thank you +Influenster @InfluensterVox for sending these out to me for free. After receiving these, I am a happy runner who is able to run 6 miles within an hour. #RoadToFitness

Review: Twinings of London Orange & Cinnamon Spice Herbal Tea

I'm new to loose leaf tea so I haven't made a complete transition from bag teas and there's a reason why. This tea tastes so good. This is the Orange & Cinnamon Spice Herbal tea from Twinings of London. It has a nice citrus and spice combo that really is sweet and comforting. Almost dessert like. The aroma is so bomb! I have a cup of this every night with a little bit of milk and honey. So soothing and relaxing. Definitely a must try!

Review: CocoCaramel Sea Salt Herbal Tea & JavaVana Mate Tea

So it's been a couple of weeks since my first trip to +Teavana. Since then I've really enjoyed my purchase. I'd like to share my thoughts on two of the teas that I bought. First I'd like to discuss the JavaVana Mate tea. The flavor of this tea was excellent!! Nice and robust. I tastes like a coffee mocha latte. It is an excellent tea for the morning. 

I also purchased the CocoCaramel Sea Salt Herbal Tea. I wish I can give you an honest opinion on this by itself but unfortunately since it was my first purchase, I immediately blended this tea with my JavaVana Mate. I didn't try it out by itself. However, I can tell you that the CocoCaramel Sea Salt & JavaVana combo  is amazing. Somehow, the CocoCaramel Sea Salt converts the mocha latte flavor of JavaVana Mate into something that resembles hot chocolate! It tastes so good! I definitely recommend this tea blend.

Tea Party No. 2

    When to +Teavana for the first time! Great experience!

I needed a mug so I went there. My purchase was extended though after getting some tea.

I had to get a tea with a caffeine kick because of my morning class. The Teavana guy suggested that I try the JavaVana Mate black tea. It has a strong flavor and tastes a bit like coffee. He also suggested that to give it the "Caramel latte" effect I could mix it with the CocoCaramel Sea Salt herbal Tea. Teavana associates were nice enough to steep a little bit before I purchased it and they were right! Taste just like a latte that I would get at a coffee shop. 

I like my teas sweet as well. Usually I add honey but I wanted to try something new. So I purchased 2 oz bag of the German Rock Sugar. These look like incense rocks but they taste just like sugar and they don't affect the taste of the beverage. 

+Teavana teas must be kept in air tight tins. After my purchase I couldn't afford to get a Teavana tea tin for $6. So I went to Target and got two of these Star Wars coin banks. Together they only cost me $5. I used some tape to cover the coin slot so now they are functional just like any other tin. Check out Teavana.com and take a look at their delicous teas! 

Meatless Mondays with MorningStar Farms

As a +BzzAgent I have to discuss MorningStar Farms products that are helping me make Meatless Mondays a reality! I was lucky enough to receive these products free or at a discount at my local supermarket because +BzzAgent sent me coupons to try them out. I was not paid by anyone. So what's my verdict on these meatless boxes? I find them absolutely amazing!

Breakfast: Above is the Hot & Spicy Sausage patties that are a great addition to my morning routine. Throw them in a microwave for a couple of minutes then combine it with some scrabbled eggs + shredded cheese on top of a whole wheat english muffin. Delicious! Looks like sausage, tastes like sausage but it's not sausage!

Lunch/Dinner: Above are the Grillers Californing Turk'y & Asian Veggie Patties. Both of these are great for lunch or dinner. I am a big fan of the Asian patties and I'm looking forward to trying the Turk'y patties. 

Kellogg's Crunchy Nut

I'm one of those guys who can live off of cereal for a day and be happy. +BzzAgent was kind enough to select me for the Crunchy Nut BzzCampaign. They sent me this box along with some coupons absolutely FREE! BzzAgent's only request is that I try out the product for free and give feedback. This cereal is ridiculously delicious. I got the box in the afternoon and couldn't wait til the next morning to try it out. I had to  try it ASAP. So this was my afternoon snack. Crunchy Nut comes in three flavors. I had received the Golden Honey Nut. I totally enjoyed the sweet crispiness of the flakes. The tiny pieces of peanuts on the flakes made it even more tastey. I love anything with peanuts. Honey is just a great sweetener. Together these made an awesome treat. What I really enjoyed though was finishing the milk that was left behind. The honey that covered the flakes sweetened the milk making the experience more enjoyable. I will definitely  buy another box of this. Gillette Mach 3

Needed some  new razors so I got the Gillette Mach 3 - Sensitive 6 pack. I found these on Amazon.com during the after Christmas days and they finally arrived. Tried one out and it did the job! I'm clean shaven and I had no cuts! It has a nice rubbery grip so it will stay in your hand. It contains an lubricant strip which is very helpful to reduce irritation but always use shaving gel/cream as well. There are 3 sharp blades. 3 blades are better than 2 blades and way better than 1 blade. I've tried four blades but those were just to bulky and 3 blades do the same job as a 4 blade. I bought the sensitive model but I read somewhere that it's basically the same thing as the regular. I can't say you should go out and try this because I only used it once. However, it did a fine job for my first use.

New Resolution: Shaving in the Shower? I got the Solution!

Just tried out this new product that I bought from +Amazon.com. This is the Shavestick: precision shaving wand from +Menskin. If you want or already shave in the shower this a great tool. While showering wet your face. In addition, take the black cap off and wet the tip of the product then start rubbing the wand all over your face until you sense a lather forming. It's just like shaving cream but there's no mess! I'm so glad I got this because this will save so much time getting ready in the morning. It makes the shaving ritual easier! It's hypoallergenic & paraben free. Here is the only drawback that I see right now and that is it is pricey. I purchased mine at around $15. Usually it's about $20-22. The one I purchased was the Platinum scent. It's a light, clean scent with top notes of tangerine,ozone accord and juniper, heart notes of lavender, cypress, and geranium and base notes of musk, patchouli, and cedarwood. The are other scents as well: Citron, Vigor, Stealth and Ice (unscented). You can find this at Amazon or groominglounge.com or shopmasc.com. Try it!
